Printable CD/DVD Profiling Service

Tired of bad color balance on your printed DVDs and CDs? so was I. I shoot wedding videos and do wedding slideshows on the side and wanted the discs to look good but the label I was printing on my Epson R200 had some major problems: the drop shadow under the text was a bluish-purple, same thing in the transition from the rose image to the background. The rose lacked shadow detail and everything was too light. I knew that the disc surface had some limitations on saturation and such but I wanted the colors balanced properly. As far as I can tell no one provided a color profiling service for printable discs. I have operated a custom profiling service for regular printable media (paper, canvas etc...) for over a year - and decided there must be a way to profile discs. There is... but I had to come up with a new method to do it.
You can create and use the profiles I produce using a photo editing or illustration program like Photoshop or Illustrator - or you can do it all using the CD printing software that come with your printer (in my case Epson Print CD), be aware that the profiles made using one program may not necessarily work with another (ie: made using Photoshop, used with Print CD). It should also be possible to create and use printable disc profiles with printers that do not support printing CDs by default such as the Epson 2200, R2400, the various pro printers (7800/4000 etc...)- even non-Epson printer that have a straight feed path like the HP B9180. You would need to put together a CD holder and create a template in your image editing program.
